3 NEW HC CHIEF JUSTICES, 2 CJ AND 3 JUDGES TRANSFERRED

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India Uday Umesh Lalit, has recommended promotion of three judges as the chief justices of three High Courts and transfer of two High Court chief justices.

Bombay High Court’s seniormost judge P B Varale was recommended on September 28 as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, while elevating J&K High Court judge Ali Mohammad Magrey as the Chief Justice in the same court in place of Pankaj Mithal (originally from Allahabad) who is transferred as the Rajasthan HC chief justice and Orissa Jaswant Singh (originally from Punjab and Haryana High Court) as its Chief justice vice Dr S Muralidhar transferred to Madras.

It also transferred three judges: K Vinod Chandran from Kerala to Bombay, Sanjaya Kumar Mishra from Uttarakhand to Jharkhand and Aparesh Kumar Singh from Jharkhand to Tripura. All three were the senior-most in their respective High Courts.
