COVID-19 CASES KEEP RISING

NEW DELHI: India on Friday registered 12,847 new cases of Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, 5.2% more than the previous day, bringing the total infections in the country to 4,32,70,577.

With 8 previous deaths in Kerala, the Health Ministry reported 6 deaths in 24 hours, 3 in Maharashtra, 2 in Delhi and 1 in Karnataka. The total deaths in the country stand at 5,24,817.

With 33% hike in the new Covid-19 cases, Maharashtra topped with the highest 4,255 cases registered in 24 hours, followed by 3,419 in Kerala, 1,373 in Delhi, 833 in Karnataka and 625 in Haryana. These five states accounted for 81.37% of the total infections in the country.

Active Covid-19 cases also shot up to 63,063, with the highest 4,848 registered in 24 hours. As many as 7,985 people recovered in 24 hours, raising the total number of patients recovered to 4,26,82,697.

The nationwide vaccinations reached 195.84 crore, with 15.27 lakh doses given in 24 hours.
