NEW DELHI: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, heading the Bharat Jodo Yatra, on Saturday asserted at the Red Fort here that he was overwhelmed by love and appreciation he received throughout the walk.
He said the ruling BJP has been spreading hatred between Hindus and Muslims. The reality of India is that every Indian irrespective of their religions love each other and they have lived together for decades.
Rahul blamed the media, particularly electronic media, not talking of this love but contribute to the atmosphere of hatred all 24 hours to influence the minds of the people, to ensure they do not focus over all real problems they are facing in their life.
He said this is not the BJP government but that of Adani and Ambani. In all his walk, he nowhere saw hatred to ensure your attention is diverted from the reality.
Rahul said the youth, who studied to succeed in life, is crying because of the unemployment. They are the future of the country. Small traders and farmers alone can make India succeed through employment, but they are suppressed.
Why he does not feel cold even in this severe winter, he was asked by the media and said they don’t ask the same question to the farmers, labourers and factory workers who walk every day like that, Rahul said.
He accused the BJP of talking of religion, saying he has never read anywhere that the religion is to create hatred and suppress the poor and the weak. All religions, including Hinduism, say not to be frightened. Nobody saw hatred or violence in this Yatra nor did anybody ask what is your religion or caste.
Before Rahul spoke, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge slammed Prime Minister Modi for trying to break the Bharat Jodo Yatra by a false claim of the spread of Covid-19. He said the Congress will not be scared by such false claim as seen by thousands of people gathered at the Red Fort not wearing the mask.
