New Delhi:The Supreme Court on Monday ordered listing on July 11 on the very first day of regular sittings after the summer vacation a petition alleging increasing attacks on the churches and the Christian priests.
The vacation bench of Justices Surya Kant and J B Pardiwala agreed for the hearing on a mention by senior advocate Collin Gonsalves, complaining that there are on an average 45 to 50 violent attacks in the country every month. Only in May, as many as 57 cases were registered, he said.
“What you are telling is most unfortunate if it is true and so we shall take it up on the very first day after the summer vacation,” the Bench said.
The petition also sought implementation of the Apex Court’s directives in 2018 to appoint the nodal officers for registration of FIRs against the crimes of hatred.
