1 LAKH CENTRAL MEANS-CUM-MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS IN CLASS IX, X & XI

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Wednesday extended the last date for the national means-cum-merit scholarship scheme on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), a one-stop platform for scholarships, to October 31.

Offer is to the students whose parental income is not more than 3.50 lakh and who secure minimum of 55% marks in Class VII to get the scholarship of Rs 12,000 per annum to study in Class IX, X and X1. Minimum marks are 50% in class VII in case of SC/ST students.

The scheme is aimed at awarding meritorious students of the economically weaker sections to arrest their dropout in Class VIII and continue their education at the secondary stage in the state government, government-aided and local body schools. A total of one lakh scholarships are on offer.

There are two levels of verification, L1 is Institute Nodal Officer (INO) Level and L2 is District Nodal Officer (DNO) level. The last date of INO level (L1) verification is November 15 and of DNO level (L2) verification is November 30.
