NEW DELHI: Wearing of the face masks at the public places in Delhi has been lifted from Thursday with no more imposition of fine of Rs 500 on those violating its wear.

A decision to this effect was taken by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), headed by Delhi Lt Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, claiming that it was in lieu of the falling number of the Covid-19 cases. However, the fact is that the new Covid-19 outbreaks keep spreading in the nation’s capital and the government calling for caution to avoid crowded places.

A notification says: “A fine of Rs 500 for not wearing masks in public places would stand withdrawn after 30.09.2022.”

The DDMA also decided to return the land on which three Covid care centres were set up, acquiring the private assets. The land will be handed over to Radha Saomi Satsang, Chhatarpur and Sant Nirankari and Sawan Kirpal in Burari while the medical equipment and the medical stores there would be transferred to the concerned hospitals, it said.

However, the services of the contract employees but only in the Covid hospitals have been extended till December 31 and the DTC has been directed to run 12 Oxygen tankers on an outsourcing basis.
