NEW DELHI: A Punjab police team that arrested BJP spokesman Tajinder Bagga from Delhi without informing Delhi Police face a case of kidnapping registered against it.
The team returned empty handed as the Haryana Police took possession of Bagga from it at Kurukshetra in Haryana and handed over him to Delhi Police to take him back to Delhi.
Delhi BJP Chief Adesh Gupta said a complaint has been lodged at the Janakpuri police station in the national capital against Punjab Police personnel for allegedly beating Tajinder Bagga’s father.
There were massive demonstrations by the BJP workers in the capital on Friday. Around 150 BJP workers and leaders protesting outside the Aam aadmi Party’s office were detained by Delhi Police.
A Delhi Police spokesman said no state police force can arrest any person outside its jurisdiction without taking into confidence the police of the jurisdiction.
The Punjab Police had arrested Bagga from his residence in West Delhi in connection with a case registered against him in Mohali last month on the charges of provocative statements, promoting enmity and criminal intimidation on the basis of a complaint registered by AAP leader Sunny Ahluwalia, a resident of Mohali.
The FIR was registered on April 1 citing objectionable remarks of Bagga on March 30, when he was part of a BJP youth wing protest outside the residence of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the national capital.
