The Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi’s primary weather station, recorded 98.7 mm rainfall till 2.30 pm. The Ridge Observatory recorded 111.4 mm rainfall, it said.

Normal life was affected in the national capital on Saturday following a heavy downpour, leading to traffic jams and waterlogging in several areas of the city. Duee to heavy rainfall, several market areas, including Connaught Circus in central Delhi, witnessed flooding, further exacerated by the closure of Minto Bridge for traffic due to the incessant rains and subsequent waterlogging. Waterlogging was also reported from the underpass beneath the Tilak Bridge.

Due to heavy rainfall, waterlogging was witnessed at 56 locations as also on NH-48 towards Gurugram, Okhla underpass, Pandav Nagar underpass and under railway bridge on Bhairon Marg off Pragati Maidan. Waterlogging was also seen on the carriageway from Ashram to Maharani Bagh, near Nizamuddin Khatta on ring road, Sarita Vihar chowk, Teen Murti, Mayurvihar Phase II and Nigam Bodh Ghat towards ISBT.

The New Delhi Municipal Council officials said all major drains were operating at full capacity, resulting in the overflow of water onto the roads. Shopkeepers saw fewer customers during the weekend, which is typically a busy shopping time.
