NEW DELHI: After the Supreme Court on Monday cancelled the bail to Ashish Mishra, main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, the Congress stepped up its attack on Prime Minister Modi, questioned him when will his father Union Minister of StateAjay Mishra Teni be terminated.

Congress Chief Spokesman and General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala asked: “When will PM sack the minister from his council; when will BJP stop protecting people who have ditched farmers?”

Setting aside teh bail of Ashish Mishra, the Supreme Court bench headed by the Chief Justice of India noted that the victims have been denied a chance of effective hearing and the high court overlooked relevant considerations. It further added that the tearing hurry shown by the high court merits the setting aside of bail order and remanded the matter back to high court for fresh consideration.

On April 4 when the Apex Court reserved the ruling, the Uttar Pradesh government told it that the Lakhimpur violence was a grave offence, but no untoward incident happened after Ashish Mishra was granted the bail and he was also not a flight risk of fleeing away from India.
