NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday declined an urgent hearing on a plea that virtual court hearing be declared as a fundamental right.

A bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and P S Narasimha told senior advocate Siddharth Luthra that there is no urgency in the matter. Luthra sought urgent hearing on the ground of a rise in the Covid cases.

“Hybrid means we will not have pleasure to see you in the court. There is no urgency. All the people are coming to court. If situation worsens, we will see,” Justice Rao said, noting that there are more urgent matters like the people in jail.
