SC: ACTION AGAINST THOSE SHOWING FAKE CERTIFICATES OF CORONA DEATH

NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over people claiming compensation by submitting fake medical certificates of death due to Corona, The Supreme Court on Monday hinted at an inquiry on the Centre once again stressing on the fake certificates produced to claim compensation.

The Court also asked the Centre to file an affidavit in 24 hours on such fake claims and slated further hearing on March 21.

A Bench of Justices M R Shah and B V Nagarathna dsif: ” “We never thought that this scheme could be misused and if the officials are involved, it becomes even worse.” At the same time, R Basant, who is appearing for the court in the case, suggested that the state government may also conduct a surprise inquiry into the compensation claims by the legal services authorities.

Last week, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that many people are claiming for compensation of Rs 50,000 per head fixed by the Court by producing doctors’ fake certificates.
