NEW DELHI: The Congress on Wednesday organised a massive gathering of the party MPs, MLAs, CWC members and Congress workers in the AICC headquarters complex to greet Rahul Gandhi for braveling facing the Enforcement Directorate’s grilling for five days in the National Herald case.

Without sharing any details of his ED ordeal, he addressed them to acknowledge their support and also issued a facebook post that he is proud of the fearless party workers and leaders engaged in the struggle and all will unitedly fight the “dictator” irrespective of whatever be the situation.

Rahul didn’t reveal what transpired in the 12×12 feet room in the ED office in which he was grilled by three officers for five days, without moving from his chair even once while the officers used to leave the room off and on, perhaps for instructions from the seniors.

He said the officers wanted to know the secret of he remaining sitting without tiredness. Instead telling them the truth, he told them that he practises ‘Vipasna’ and so he has habit of sitting for hours, without any problem even if it stretches to 8-10 hours.

Rahul said his real strength was the support of the crores of Congress workers and leaders as he felt they were all there with him so that he was never tired. On the fifth day on Tuesday, they wanted to know the patience exhibited by him in the lengthy interrogation. He told him that he developed patience since he is working in the Congress since 2004.

He thanked all those gathered, noting that the ED officers who interrogated him also understood that they cannot frighten the Congress leader since the Congress is engaged in the fight for the truth in which there is no lack of patience since the truth never tires unlike the lies that get tired.

Stressing that what all happened to him in the ED office was a small matter, Rahul said the party’s main concern should be employment as India will not be able to give employment to the crores of the youths, irrespective of what the government does. He said Modi has mortgaged the country to two, three top industrialists who can not deliver employment to the youth.

The last resort for the youth was to show patriotism by joining the Armed Forces, but the government has closed even that route. Instead of earlier talk of one rank, one pension, it is now talking of no rank, no pension. “I can tell those returning home after serving the Armed Forces for four years under the ‘Agnipath’ scheme that they will get no employment.”

Rahul said China has seized 1,000 square km of the Indian land and at a time when the Army should be strengthened, the government is weakening the Army through “Agnipath.” He wondered how those weakining the Army can call themselves nationalist.

“ED probe into the National Herald affairs is a small issue as more important is the issue of the youths. As I had said Modi will have to roll back the agricultural law and he will be forced to roll back the ‘Agnipath’ scheme as every youth of India will stand with the Congress in this struggle since they know the patriotism lies in strengthing the Army and not in weakening it,” Rahul added.
