NEW DELHI: Around 11.27 lakh non-gazetted railway employees were given 78 days of wages as the production-linked bonus for the financial year of 2021-22 before the Dussehra/Puja holidays as every year, amounting to maximum of Rs 17,951 and it was on Wednesday given ex-post facto approval by the Union Cabinet.

Those betting it include Track maintainers, Drivers & Guards, Station masters, Supervisors, Technician, Technician Helper, controller, Pointsmen, Ministerial staff & other Group ‘C’ staff.

It will cost Rs 1832.09 crore to the Railways. The decision was taken despite the adverse financial effect of the post Covid-19 challenges.

The actual number of PLB days paid is more than the days worked out on the basis of defined formulae.  The payment of PLB acts as an incentive to motivate the railway employees for working towards improvement in the performance of the Railways, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur told reporters while giving a briefing on the Cabinet decisions.
