ASHOK GEHLOT CHIEF OBSERVER IN PUNJAB

NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was on Wednesday asked by Congress President Sonia Gandhi to rush to Punjab and take charge of the party at the time of the counting of votes on Thursday and ensure no party is able to poach the newly elected Congress MLAs.

He has been also directed to provide accommodation to the party MLAs not only from Punjab, but also from Goa and Uttarakhand to make them unapproachable until the formation of the governments in the respective states.

AICC general secretary Ajay Maken and national spokesman Pawan Khera are also being rushed to Chandigarh to help out Harish Chaudhary, in-charge of the Punjab affairs. Chaudhary, a Rajasthan minister, is a protege of Ashok Gehlot and question marks are being raised on the way he mishandled the elections.
