NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday recorded a big jump in fresh Covid-19 infections to 20,557 as against 15,528 a day earlier, while the daily death toll stood at 40, including 8 recorded early in Kerala.
Maharashtra and West Bengal each recorded the highest 6 deaths in the past 24 hours, followed by 4 in Punjab, 3 each in Sikkim, Kerala and Assam, 2 in Delhi and 1 each in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Odisha and Manipur.
As many as 5,25,825 people have so far succumbed to death due to Covid-19 as against 4,38,03,619 infected in the country while 4,31,32,140 recovered. The active cases also went up to 1,45,654.
The nationwide vaccination on Wednesday stood at 200.61 crore with 26.04 lakh vaccine doses imparted in the past 24 hours.
