NEW DELHI: The Congress on Monday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to muster courage to face the press in a press conference and apologise to Rahul Gandhi for the insensitive and toxic comments on his “Bharat Jodo Yatra” by Tamil Nadu BJP IT & Social Media president.

Its spokesman Gourav Vallabh told a press conference that the BJP leaders are so rattled by an extreme love received by Rahul Gandhi in his yatra that those with the ideology of breaking India are trying to divert the truths. He said Modi’s fear is reflected in actions and speeches of the BJP leaders and the BJP government is steered itself from the path of national development towards the election management.

He also asked why Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani had gone into hiding or whether she is busy in concocting stories and twisting facts. She had twisted the facts with a lie that Rahul didn’t pay tributes to Swami Vivekanand, but she went mum when the Congress released the photographs of Rahul paying tributes at the Vivekanand Rock Memorial while launching the Bharat Jodo Yatra on September 7.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya went a step further to claim that Rahul had not made a single public speech. “It takes courage for many dialogues by Rahul during every day of the yatra, instead of sitting in studios and recording monologue such as Mann ki Baat, Prof. Gourav said. He said Malviya is well known for his ability to expose himself as a fake news peddler while the facts state otherwise.

He said the most insensitive, toxic and degenerate comments came out from the BJP’s Tamil Nadu IT cell head CTR Nirmal Kumar. His comments bring out the true mindset of the BJP leaders and workers.

Apart from these instances, the comments made around the cintainers, clothes, etc. only show the annoyance at the success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the professor added.
