NEW DELHI: The Congress on Wednesday questioned Prime Minister Modi purchasing the American drones from the United States during his U.S. visit without approval of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and that too at four times more price than one paid by other countries and getting only outdated “junk,”
Its media chairman Pawan Khera said the government has already given Rs 1788 crore to DRDO and so he could not understand why giving Rs 25,000 crore to the U.S. and that too for the American “kabad” (junk) and they are without transfer of technology and rather having outdated technology.
Another film in the making on the lines of “Hum aapke hain kaun?” It is “Hum Aapke Drone” whose hero is Narendra Modi, he said and ridiculed Modi for paying Rs 25,000 crore for the drone junk.
He also asked what happened to Make in India and self-reliant India in the defence sector and why did India agree on only 8-9% technology transfer.
When the Air Force had objections to the skyrocketing prices of these drones, what was the hurry to strike a deal? While the Air Force had demanded only 18 drones and they are being given 31 drones.
Khera also asked: “What is the relationship of the CEO of General Atomics with the current rulers and influential personalities?”
