NEW DELHI: Welcoming the Supreme Court forcing Delhi Police register two FIRs against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the Congress on Saturday demanded his immediate arrest to prevent him from influencing the investigations.

Congress spokesman Deepender Singh Hooda and Dr Krishna Poonia told a press conference that Singh is a well-known history-sheeter with over 40 serious crime cases going on against him as he calls himself a “bahubali.”

He also urged the court to take cognizance of his record of crimes and order his immediate arrest. How he influenced Delhi Police by not registering any case against him despite the wrestlers’ dharna since three months ago has become well-known to the top court.

Hooda also demanded removal of Singh from all posts. He also criticised the Prime Minister not uttering a word on the grievances of the same wrestlers who were honoured by him three months ago.

He wanted a probe to check who all were trying to save Singh because of his position in the ruling BJP.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also visited the wrestlers on Dharna at Jantar Mantar here and said her party is backing them without considering any political gains. She said Prime Minister Modi’s claims of “Beti Bachao, Beti Pdhao and honour to sportspersons” are exposed from his protection to the WFI chief.
