NEW DELHI: India on Thursday recorded a surge in 7,240 new cases, 39% more than the previous day, and the highest in 99 days, with two deaths in 24 hours, 1 each in Delhi and Chhattisgarh.
The health ministry has cautioned four states of Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka and Kerala to adopt 4-fold strategy, including an increase in the Coronavirus tests. Maharashtra alone reported 2,701 new infections in 24 hours.
The total Covid-19 infections in the country have gone up to 4,31,97,522, out of which 5,24,723 succumbed to death and 4,26,40,301 recovered. The active cases have gone up to 32,498 with a day’s jump of 13,641.
With 13.43 lakh Covid-19 doses imparted in 24 hours, the total of the nationwide vaccination reached 194.59 crore.
