NEW DELHI: Ahead of renewal of the liquor shops in the national capital after May 31, Delhi government has given a big relief to the boozers by allowing rebate up to 25% on the MRP printed on the bottles.
This is the reversal of an order a fortnight ago banning rebates and any other offer on the sale of the liquor to stop the cut-throat competition among the private vendors.
Vinod Giri, director general of Federation of India alcohal beverage companies says all vendors have already deposited tax and duty and so everyone wants to sell maximum liquor to clear the stock with them.
Under the new excise policy in vogue from November 17, so far nearly 650 liquor shops have been opened in Delhi, though licences were issued for 849
