NEW DELHI: Ahead of its goal to expand its “shakhas” (units) to one lakh before completing 100 years on September 27, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is holding its 3-day conference of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, the highest decision making body, in Ahmedabad from March 11 to decide its future course of actions.

Though claiming RSS to be a non-political front, its pratinidhi sabha will be discussing the current political situation in the country and decide how to expand it to reach the target of one lakh “shakhas” from the present strength of 55,000. The conference is slated a day after the Assembly election results of five states will be out.

A document circulated for the conference lays stress on expanding to the rural areas by targeting “bastis,” border villages and highway shakhas.

The last Pratinidhi Sabha was held in 2021 in Bengaluru, but only a handful of top functionaries could attend while the rest had joined virtually because of the Covid pandemic.
