NEW DELHI/ WHO SAYS SONIA NOT CAMPAIGNING? STAR CAMPAIGNER IN MANIPUR

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Monday removed the slur that its President Sonia Gandhi was not campaigning in the current Assembly elections by showing her among the 30 star campaigners in Manipur in the second phase of polling on March 5.

Manipur has a vast population of Christians whom Sonia will woo by campaigning in the state. The star campaigners listed for Manipur include Rajya Sabha member and former union minister Jairam Ramesh and 73-year old former Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh. ex-JNU leader Kanhaiya Kumar and a surprised senior advocate R K Anand not figuring in the campaign in any state.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is visiting Manipur on Tuesday to campaign for the party.

Priyanka and her brother Rahul Gandhi are among the 30 star campaigners in the sixth phase of the Assembly elections on March 3. Both Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his former Deputy CM as also Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi and Chhattisgarh’s Bhupesh Baghel and former Madhya Pradeh CM Kamal Nath figure among the star campaigners in this round.
