NEW DELHI: Delhi High Court on Thursday struck down the AAP government’s scheme for home delivery of the ration canvassed by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with a big bang, claiming that will stop blackmarketing of the ration goods by the fair price shops.
Its decision comes a day after the resignation of Delhi’s Lt. Governor Anil Baijal, who had put down his foot in not permitting the Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana. The judgment comes as a big slap to Kejriwal on the scheme he has advanced also in Punjab since after his Aam Aadmi Party won the Assembly elections.
The High Court, which had reserved its ruling on January 10, allowed the petition of Delhi Sarkari Ration Dealers Sangh, which last year challenged the tenders issued towards implementation of the scheme. The Centre had last year supported the plea and argued that fair price shops can not be allowed to be finished as they play an important role in the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
