NEW DELHI: National Security Adviser (NSA) on Tuesday ruled out any rollback of the Agnipath scheme because of the ongoing protests in response to Chhattisgarh’s Congress CM Bhupesh Baghel’s demand.

Baghel said that entire country is protesting against the scheme as it is not in the interest of the country’s welfare, youth is angry. “BJP is saying they’ll keep them(youth retired after 4 yrs) as peons in offices. Has the Centre already abolished the Class IV posts. They want to end reservation.”

Speaking on protests against #AgnipathScheme, NSA Ajit Doval told a news agency: “I think that the protests, raising your voice is justified and is permitted in a democracy. But this vandalism, this violence is not permitted and will not be tolerated at all.”

“My message to the youth who want to become ‘Agniveers’ is that be positive, have faith in the nation, have faith in the leadership and also in yourself,” the NSA said.

He also clarified: “As far as regiments are concerned, two things need to be understood. Nobody is tinkering with the concept of regiments…They (regiments) will continue…The regimental system has not ended…”

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister M L Khattar said: “Those (75% of agniveers who would return after 4 yrs of service) who want to get Haryana Govt jobs will be given guaranteed jobs. Those who want can get inducted into any cadre for Group C jobs. Otherwise, we have jobs in Police, which will be given to them.”
