PM’S TRIBUTES TO JAWAHARLAL NEHRU

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party always criticises India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, but not on his birth anniversary on November 14 as the Prim Minister paid tributes to him on his 13th birth anniversary.

Modi posted on X: “Tributes to our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru Ji on his birth anniversary.”

In the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan in the Parliament House,Rajya Sabha Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge, MPs, former MPs and other dignitaries paid floral tributes at Nehru’s portrait. Secretary generals of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha also paid floral tributes on the occasion.

The portrait of Nehru was unveiled by then President of India Dr S Radhakrishnan, on May 5, 1966.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other Congress leaders paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary at Shantivan in the national capital.

Paying tributes to Nehru, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on X that he is a thought of “freedom, progress and justice.”
