Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday reiterated his charge that Prime Minister Modi is protecting industrialist Gautam Adani looting the country in over-invoicing the coal import supplied to the power companies.
Why no impact of the charge he has been repeating so often, he told a press conference here that it is impacting as the PM’s credibility is going down and everyone even in villages know that nobody else can protect Adani except PM Modi.
Whenever anybody any where hits the electric switch, money directly goes into the pockets of Adani, he said, pointing out that this loot has been estimated at Rs 32,000 crore by the British daily The Financial Times. He said the probe has begun against Adani in many countries, but Government of India has gien him a “blank cheque” as no investigation against him. This amount of loot will keep increasing.
He said the Congress and other parties have been calling for the investigation. Perhaps, the money is not going into the pockets of Adani but someone else, Rahul said, dropping the hint that the money may be going into the pockets of Modi for the benefit of the BJP.
Asked if the Congress would probe this loot if it comes to power, Rahul shot back: Why not? Investigation shall be against whosoever does the loot.
On he not asking NCP supremo Sharad Pawar having good equations with Adani, he said Pawar is not the Prime Minister, nor is he protecting Adani to ask questions to him.
