NEW DELHI: When there is a national commission for women, why not have a similar commission to protect married men harassed by domestic violence? The Supreme Court has listed a PIL on Monday on the opening day of the court after summer vacation before a bench of Justices Suryakant and Dipankar Dutta.

The PIL has been moved by advocate Mahesh Kumar Tiwari, seeking constitution of a national commission for men and issue directions to protect the married men committing suicides due to the domestic fights.

It has cited 2021 report of the National Crime Bureau on the accidental deaths that says 1,64,033 people committed suicides during the year. It included as many as 81,063 married males and 28,680 married females.
