NEW DELHI: Former J&K and Goa Governor Satyapal Malik on Wednesday claimed in a half an hour chat at his residence with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that he sees the Modi government going out of power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He said India will survive only when the liberal Hinduism of Mahatma Gandhi prevails. He agreed with Rahul about two visions of Hinduism in practice. One vision is of non-violence and brotherhood and another of hatred and violence practised by BJP and RSS.

Malik accused the Modi government of driving away the farmers from agriculture and bring in the corporate sector. He sought a probe into Adani spending Rs 20,000 crore in setting up godowns in Punjab, Haryana and other states and stocking the crops to sell them at high prices.

He said it were Nehru who introduced the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to let the government intervene if the prices to farmers go below a level. He expressed concern over Adani building the storage infrastructure instead of the government building godowns for the farmers.

Malik, who has been also governor of Meghalaya, said the northeastern states were settled but the Modi government disturbed them. He said Manipur was an example of the government’s failure where the chief minister can’t do anything, nor can he be removed from the post.

He expressed fears that the Modi government won’t allow a normal Lok Sabha election in 2024, pointing to how it used the Pulwama terror attack on a CRPF contingent. As the governor, he went to the site and then asserted that Pulwama tragedy became because of our mistake. For four months, they sought five aircraft for movement that were denied despite knowing how risky is to move on the roads.

The former J&K governor said Police usd to sansitise the roads blocking all civil traffic but that was not done during the movement of the CRPF troops. He said J&K border is porous and so he was told that a jeep fully loaded with arms was moving in the area for the past one week that carried bombs from Pakistan. He is certain that the Pulwama was allowed to be created for use in the Lok Sabha elections.
