NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday threw a bombshell at Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul, claiming that both the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court had dismissed their plea of “not guilty” in the National Herald case now under probe by the Enforcement Directorate.

Its spokesman Sambit Patra told a press conference here that the people should understand the “chronology of corruption” created by the mother-son duo, accing them of grabbing people’s money invested in the company of the National Herald group of newspapers by forming a “Young India” company in 2010.

Blasting the Congress for making a huge drama since Monday out of the ed questioning Rahul Gandhi in the Herald case, he said neither Sonia is a queen nor Rahul a prince to be above the law. “The Gandhi family considers itself to be the most superior in this country. No one is king or prince here, every citizen is equal to the law. This should be learned from Modi,” he added.

“It is not true that the Congress had approached trial, high court and the top court to plead “not guilty,” but every court dismissed their plea,” Patra said.

He said: “Delhi High Court categorically ranked Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi at first and second place respectively in the National Herald case. After this, the Congress lawyers including Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and others approached Supreme Court in the case. The top court said that there is merit in this case, so Rahul and Sonia need to face it.”
