NEW DELHI: Two days ahead of the takeoff of the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi from Kanyakumari on Wednesday, the Congress on Monday released a 3-minute inspirational Hindi song as its “Anthem” that takes off with “Mile kadam, Jude Vatan” (steps together to join the nation).

AICC general secretary and chief spokesman Jairam Ramesh released the “Anthem” at a Press conference that goes on to affirm that the steps will not be stopped come what may.

While Rahul Gandhi was in Ahmedabad on Mondy to address a rally on “Parivartan Sankalp” (Resolve for change of government) in Gujarat in the Assembly polls due this year-end, Jairam participated in a protest organised by the Assam Congress at Jantar Mantar here against the blatant corruption by Assam chief minister.

Giving details of the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Wednesday, Jairam said there shall be a prayer meeting at the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial and then Rahul Gandhi will reach the Gandhi Memorial where he will be handed over the National Flag by the chief ministers of Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh to take off the padyatra (foot march) as the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

It is a journey symbolic of Mahatma Gandhi’s “Bharat Chhodo” movement that ultimately forced the Britishers to leave India. Participated by the Congress leaders, young and old, along with the people joining on the way, the Yatra will go on for five months to ultimately reach Kashmir, covering 3,500 km across a dozen states and two Union Territories.

In a tweet later, Jairam Ramesh said: “My colleagues from Assam have demanded a CBI investigation on seven specific cases against the Assam CM. “Himanta Biswa Sarma has been blessed by the Great BJP Washing Machine, but the evidence against him is clinching. Will the CBI be allowed to do its job,” he asked.
