NEW DELHI: A Supreme Court Bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul nd Abhay S Oka on Monday issued a notice to the Centre on a plea for timely and transparent filling of the long-pending vacancies in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to ensure that the commission discharges its duties effectively as an “integral institution.”
The petition filed by advocate Prashant Bhushan on behalf of NGO Common Cause sought a direction to the Centre to take urgent steps to appoint the vigilance commissioner and the Central Vigilance Commissioner as per the advertisements issued in July 2020 and May 2021 respectively.
