NEW DELHI: The Congress on Wednesday started the Lok Sabha election campaign, first in the states going for the Assembly elections this year and then in other states, replicating Rahul Gandhi’s 3500-km long Bharat Jodo Padyatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.

Each parliamentary constituency is assigned to its senior leaders, who will take out the padyatra and maybe later a bus yatra in November-December.

The decision was taken by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former party president Rhul Gandhi in their meeting with the party leaders from Maharashtra at the AICC Hq here on Tuesday.

Congress general secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal said the Congress is completely focused on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and it will work with its allies to begin with MVA in Maharashtra to defeat the BJP. He said the meeting also discussed preparations for the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram.
