CWC MEMBERS ASK SONIA TO PULL OUT GEHLOT FROM PRESIDENTIAL RACE

NEW DELHI: A score of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) members on Monday urged party president Sonia Gandhi to pull out Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from the race for the party president in view of his unfortunate role of deepening political crisis in Rajasthan.

“It would not be good to lay faith in him and give him the responsibility of running the party. The top leadership should reconsider his candidature and instead choose another senior leader who is also loyal to the Gandhi family,” a source said quoting the CWC members.

He said they would have in normal course suggested to hold a CWC meeting, but that was felt inconvenient in view of many CWC members tied up with the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
