NEW DELHI: Delhi ranks 19th among 29 Indian states in the child marriages in the country, says the Kailash Satyavarthi Children’s Foundation engaged in consultations to stop the child marriages.
It said despite Delhi being one of the most urbanised city continues to see the menace of the child marriages as 2011 Census had shown that around 84,277 children were married off before turning 18 years.
The foundation, headed by Nobel Peace laureate Kailash Satyavathi on Wednesday announced the launch of the “Child Marriage Free India” campaign.
