Additional Deputy Comissioner Sh. Rajiv Varma graced the event of International Day of Disability was commemorated with great enthusiasm at Civil Hospital Nawanshahr. The event was organized by office of District Social Security Officer S. Jagroop Singh.
In attendance were notable dignitaries, including Chairman District Planning Board Mr. Satnam Singh Jalalpur and Mr. Lalit Mohan Pathak, Constituency In-charge of Aam Aadmi Party Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. The Honorable Additional Deputy Commissioner enlightened the audience about the government-level services available to individuals with disabilities.
Dr. SATWINDER PAL SINGH, SMO Civil Hospital, and ACS Dr. Balveer Kumar addressed the gathering, providing valuable insights into the healthcare services offered by the department. Mr. Satnam Singh Jalalpur and Mr. Lalit Mohan Pathak highlighted the government’s efforts in converting 42 services into online platforms, reducing the need for physical visits to government offices.
The event featured captivating performances, including choreography, bhangra, and other cultural items presented by Divyangjan Bachya of Sardar Tara Singh Kahma Special School, Red Cross Society Nawanshahr. Special recognition was given to Mr. Gurveer Kumar (disabled) and other children of the special school for their outstanding achievements despite facing physical challenges.
The program also marked a significant step with 54 cases registered for Unique Disability Identity (UDID). Thirty-four cases initiated the online application process for medical certificates, while 30 cases witnessed the on-the-spot generation of UDIDs.
