NEW DELHI: The Central Government-run Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathna (KVS) has raised the age for admissions in class I of the central schools from five-plus to 6-plus. The new guidelines say the child must be 6-year-old on March 31 2022 to be admitted in Class I for the 2022-23 academic session.
Those who took admissions last year on completing five years on March 31 last year in schools across the country will now progress to Class II.
The KVS management attributed change of the minimum age for admissions in the central schools to the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020.
There are 1,250 Kendriya Vidyalaya or Central Schools across the country, taking one lakh students every year. Their monthly fee varies from Rs 600 to 900 for boys, depending on the class while education to girls is free.
Meanwhile, a Delhi father has moved Delhi High Court for admission to his 5-year old girl child, pointing out that she has already completed LKG and UKG education and the family wanted her admitted to a Kendriya Vidyalaya for quality education.
