NEW DELHI: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday announced to hold a referendum on March 4 to seek opinion of one million citizens of Delhi on the Kejriwal government’s new liquor policy.

He told a press conference here that the AAP government’s decision to privatise the liquor trade in the capital to promote drinking is rendering the youth directionless.

Opening of 850 liquor stores across the city and shutting down all government outlets selling liquor, leaving no control over a sudden spurt of drinking in the capital, increasing crimes, he said.

He claimed women too feel unsafe due to the crowds near the private liquor shops coming up close to the residential areas.
