The bail plea of former media baron Indirani Mukherjee, facing trial of the alleged murder of her daughter Sheena Bora in 2012, was on Thursday adjourned to Monday by a Supreme Court Bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and Bhushan R Gavai since it did not get the necessary papers.
She was arrested in August 2015. She is presently in the judicial custody while her trial is underway before the Special CBI court in Mumbai. In an 8-page application, she has sought the Supreme Court’s direction to the CBI and the prosecution to file an affidavit on her hand-written application before the special CBI court last month that her daughter Sheena Bora is alive and she has been wrongly arrested for her alleged murder.
Indrani also sought to know if the CBI has taken any steps to ascertain he claim that her daughter is very much alive.
It was in April 2012 that Sheena (24) was allegedly strangled in a car by Indrani, her then driver Shyamvar Rai and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna. The high-profile murder case hit headlines in 2015 on the driver spilling the beans when interrogated in another case.
The CBI case is that Indrani disapproved her daughter’s relationship with Rahul Mukerjea, the son of her then husband Peter Mukerjee from an earlier marriage. Peter is out on bail in the case.
