NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister-led selection committee has set up a 10-member search panel headed by Press Council of India (PCI) Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, a former Supreme Court judge and head of the Delimitation Commission of India, to recommend the chairman and three members of the Lok Pal, an anti-corruption authority or body of ombudsman.

The Lokpal, an 8-member authority, is working without a regular chief since after Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose completed his term on May 27 last year. Pradip Kumar Mohanty is the acting chairman.

A gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Personnel on August 2 says the search panel includes former RAW chief Samant Kumar Goel, Information Commissioner Heera Lal Samariya, former Orissa high Court chief justice Kalpesh Jhaveri, A Suryaprakash, former chairman of Prasar Bharti, and former Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmed Javed.
