NEW DELHI/PLEA AGAINST PHYSICAL BOARD EXAM OF CLASS X, XII: KHANWILKAR BENCH TO DECIDE

NEW DELHI: Chief Justice of India N V Ramana on Monday referred to a Bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar, who had handled the issue also last year, to hear a plea against the physical board examinations of Classes X and XII by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and many state education boards because of the Covid pandemic situation.

A Bench, which also comprised Justices A S Bopanna and Hima Kohli took note of the submissions by a lawyer on behalf Thane-based  child activist and advocate Anubha Shrivastava Sahai that all education boards be directed to devise alternative modes of assessment. Advocate Prashant Padmanabhan mentioned the matter, seeking an urgent hearing to release pressure being built on students and parents because of the online exams.

The CBSE has already notified the two board exams for classes X and XII from April 26.
