NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court had to intervene on Tuesday on the heated arguments between Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and senior advocate Dushyant Dave, asking them to show respect to each other during a hearing on a demolition case.
Both hail from Gujarat. Dave said Mehta knows him for 40 years but does not except that he always argues in loud voice.
Bench of Justices B R Gavai and J B Pardiwala told them not to make public display of their love to each other.
When Dave asserted loudly that demolitions have become a trend on the directions of the BJP leaders, the solicitor general reacted that he cannot argue in loud voice and accused Dave of making claims without any preparation.
Dave slammed him back, saying he has to assert loudly since the solicitor general does not understand any other language and he is not fit for the post as the minorities are subjected to attack at the instance of the BJP.
He said whenever the solicitor general has no answers, he tries to demolish his arguments by accusing him of shouting.
