STEEP FALL IN FRESH COVID CASES: 2503

NEW DELHI: India recorded a steep fall in fresh Covid-19 cases to 2,503 in 24 hours ending at 08.00 hrs on Monday, with the lowest 27 deaths in the last four months even as 26 states and Union Territories reported not a single death.

Kerala recorded the highest 6 deaths in 24 hours, followed by 3 in Odisha, 2 each in Manipur and Meghalaya, and 1 each in Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

The nationwide vaccination stood at 180.19 crore, though very poor vaccination of just 4.61 lakh in 24 hours ending at 7 am on Monday. Total tests conducted so far stood at 77.90 crore, 5.32 lakh of them in the last 24 hours ending at 8 AM.

At 36,168 active caseload, the active cases stand at 0.08% of the total infections while the recovery of 4,377 in 24 hours raised the total recoveries to 42.44 million, which is 98.72% of total cases.

The daily positivity rate and the weekly positivity rate were both 0.47%.
