TOMAR CONVENER OF MP ELECTION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

NEW DELHI: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, 66, elected to the Lok Sabha for third term from Morena in Gwalior-Chambal region, was on Saturday appointed the BJP’s convener of the Madhya Pradesh election management committee.

A seasond organisational leader, he has held various positions including Madhya Pradesh president and he is considered a low-key profile leader who enjoys cordial relations with various regional satraps.

He also comes from the Gwalior-Chambal region where the BJP is working overtime to improve its show after being bested by the Congress in the 2018 assembly polls.

Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav, who hails from Rajasthan, was recently made the BJP’s poll in-charge for Madhya Pradesh.

The BJP-ruled state is expected to go to polls later this year along with Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram. The leadership decided to continue with Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the chief minister of the state.
