NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday recorded a rise in the fresh Covid-19 infections to 18,313 as against 14,830 a day earlier and 57 related deaths, including 17 in Kerala on the previous days.
Maharashtra topped with 12 deaths on Wednesday, followed by 7 in West Bengal, 4 in Meghalaya, 2 each in Delhi, Bihar, Kerala and Odisha, and 1 each in Gujarat (889 fresh infections), Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, MP, Karnataka,Punjab, UP and Nagaland. A total deaths in the country so far have been 5,26,110 as against the recovery of 4,32,67,571.
The active caseload dropped further by 3,362 to touch 1,45,020 as against 1,47,512 on Tuesday.
The nationwide vaccination reached 202.79 crore, with 27.37 lakh vaccine doses given in 24 hours.
