NEW DELHI: BJP senior leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday asserted that the Chhattisgarh government is acting as an ATM of the Congress to generate money for it through a Rs 2,161-crore liquor scam in the state during 2019-2023, citing a 1300-page complaint filed in the court on Wednesdsay.

He said all 800 liquor shops are run by the government but they were managed by a syndicate by outsourcing own staff and the scam shows the hallmark of Opposition’s loot campaign, under which a former deputy CM of Delhi was refused bail four times.

Prasad said the syndicate is run by Anwar Dhebar, brother of Raipur mayor close to the Congress CM, and it has even produced duplicate bottles with hologram for illegal sale of liquor in the state. He said the authority has found the properties bought by this person in Naya Raipur, Bhilai and Mumbai. Anwar was pocketing 15% of the liquor sale and share the loot with those in power in the state’s Congress government.
