Incidents of hunting of wild animals are happening every day in Shivalak forests located in Kandi area of Garhshankar town of the Hoshiarpur district, but the police administration and forest department are unaware of it.
The hunters hunted sambar and deer in the area of village Hajipur and Rampur Billar during night and escaped. Meanwhile, a Sambar injured by hunters died near a religious place on the outskirts of Hajipur village, the villagers got information about it at 11 pm. While chasing the injured Sambhar, the hunter’s dog had come near the said religious place, which was caught and controlled by the villagers.
On this occasion, the villagers protested against the forest department not taking any action on the increasing incidents of poaching. On this occasion, the villagers said that they have many times informed the Forest Department and Wildlife Conservation Department about illegal hunting of wild animals in this area, but the officials of the said department never reach the spot nor contact the villagers. .
The villagers warned that if these incidents of hunting were not curbed, they would take the area residents along and protest against the department.
