NEW DELHI: The Election Commission has struck off another tranche of 111 Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs) from its rolls for not following the regulatory compliances.

This is the second phase of 111 deletions on June 20 as a followup of 87 non-existent parties struck off as per the decision on May 25. An EC press release says the postal department returned the letters sent to 111 political parties, warranting their deletion for unfulfilling statutory requirement of address of communication for registration with the ED.

It says any party aggrieved of the deletion may approach the Chief Electoral Officer of the concerned state or Election Commission within 30 days, with all the evidences of existence as also year-wise annual audited accounts, contribution report, expenditure report and updating of the office-bearers’ lists, bank accounts and authorised signatories for financial transactions.

Besides, the EC also sent names of 3 RUPPs to the Revenue Department for legal and criminal action for serious financial impropriety. It has also sent a list of 1897, 2202 and 2351 RUPPs for action under the Representation of People Act 1951 for not submitting the contribution reports for the financial years of 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 respectively.
