NEW DELHI: Former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Nakul Dubey(56), a Brahmin face of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the state, on Thursday joined the Congress at the AICC headquarters and claimed many state leaders of BSP and Samajwadi Party will also soon come into the Congress fold since all see a direct fight between Congress and BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

BSP supremo Mayawati had expelled him from the party last Saturday after his meeting with Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. He was once her close aide and credited for bringing her to power in 2007 through his efforts of bringing Dalits and Brahmins together.

He entered politics in 2007, giving up his practice as a lawyer. He also contested the Lok Sabha elections as the BSP candidate, without success.
