NEW DELHI: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), which had held a year-long protest on Delhi borders until the Government rolled back three controversial farm laws, is now joining hands with the youths on the issue of the Agnipath recruitment to organise “Jai Jawan, Jain Kisan” conventions for 8 days across the country from August 7 to 14 as part of three action plans it finalised.

A press release on its behalf said most of the farmers’ organisations (16) that had been suspended from the SKM for contesting the Assembly elections in Punjab have returned to the Morcha.

In its meeting in Ghaziabad near here attended by some 200 representatives from 15 states, the SKM also declared a “Chakka Jam” in 500 districts across the country as “protest against betrayal” of the legal guarantee of Minim Support Price (MSP) and other pending demands.

Since Twitter and Facebook has withheld account of @kisanektamorcha in India “in response to a legal demand,” SKM announced its decisions through the associated left outfits and signed by Dr Darshan Pal, ex-MP Hannan Mollah, Joginder Singh Ugraha, Yudhveer Singh and Yogendra Yadav. They said them can be contacted on their email: samyuktkisanmorcha@gmail.com.

It also announced a 75-hour mass dharna from August 18 to 20 at Lakhimpur Keri in UP on the 75th Independence Day to demand sacking of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, whose son allegedly mowed down the agitating farmers.

The meeting also passed a resolution against the growing repressions of farmers and human rights activists. The resolution condemned the arrest of journalists Teesta Setalvad and Mohd. Zubair.
