NEW DELHI: Former Congress President on Tuesday expressed concern over a High Court judge being threatened for exposing the BJP’s corrupt governments.

He tweeted that institution after institutions are being bulldozed by the BJP.

“Each of us must stand with those fearlessly doing their duty. #DaroMat (don’t be frightened), he said.

Rahul was commenting on Justice H.P. Sandesh of the Karnataka high court stating in an open court hearing in Bengaluru that he was threatened with transfer for handling cases being handled by the state’s anti-corruption bureau.

No political corruption case was before him. He ws hearing the bail application of an accused allegedly caught accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to issue an order from the District Commissioner’s office.

The judge flared up when the counsel for the anti-corruption bureau did not produce certain documents before the court, despite an undertaking in the previous hear. This was a move to protect the accused, he said.

Justice Sandesh also said that another high court judge had spoken to him of similar threats of transfer. The judge said that he was unafraid of transfers or of losing his post as a judge. The judge also noted that he would record the threats in the order. “I will bell the cat even at the cost of my judgeship,” he said and bluntly asked the Karnatak government as to why it was “protecting the culprits.”
